The ASD Podistica Jonia Giarre, with the aegis of Fidal Sicilia, organizes the 7th Blue Jonio Marathon, a national running race of 21.097 km.
The track, entirely approved, runs along the Ionian-Etneo coast. The departure is fixed at the central Piazza del Commercio, near the Etna Tourist Port (Riposto), the athletes will travel along the seafront in a southerly direction to the village of Torre Archirafi where, having reached the 3rd km, they will cross the center of the small maritime village to go back north towards Messina. The large group of athletes will reach the fractions of S. Anna di Mascali at the 7th km, Fondachello di Mascali at the 9th km and Marina di Cottone (Fiumefreddo) at the 13th km, where there will be a turning point that will re-launch the race in a southerly direction towards the finish line set in Piazza del Commercio in Riposto.
A long sprint, with no particular change in direction and with a difference in level close to the ZERO, which will give athletes the sensation of “flying” …
